What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a perfectly natural state which we all pass through at least twice a day when we wake up and go to sleep. For the purposes of therapy Hypnosis is really all about relaxation. At all times you will remain conscious and aware, there is absolutely no question of you being under the ‘control’ of anyone, including the hypnotist or anything else.

What is Cognitive Therapy?

Cognitive therapies, Psychotherapy and life coaching offered at ELK Hypnotherapy include Cognitive Behavourial Therapy (CBT) and applied psycology training.

What problems and symptoms can be treated at ELK Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Therapy provide effective treatment for any anxiety and stress related conditions, ranging from phobias (including emetophobia), social anxiety, shyness, Obessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), depression, sexual problems, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) through to unwanted habits such as smoking and nail biting. There are three main types of hypnotherapy, cognitive therapy and life coaching offered at ELK:

Firstly, we could use positive suggestion therapy to control a particular symptom. This type of hypnotism is suitable for smoking cessation, nail biting, fear of public speaking, pre test nerves, weight loss and slimming, hypnotic gastric band etc.

Secondly, we could use analytic therapy (Hypnoanalysis) to remove the root cause of a symptom, such as phobias, social anxiety, shyness, depression, sexual problems, gambling etc. This type of hypnotherapy would usually take place over eight to ten sessions (certainly no more than twelve sessions).

Thirdly we could use cognitive therapy or life coaching to understand and change our 'thinking' to overcome phobias (including emetophobia), social anxiety, shyness, depression, sexual problems, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and much more.

"I had a few different issues in my life I wanted to resolve. After going through every medical test for IBS and finding no solution. Along with some very personal men’s issues (ED/PE), which I also went through various medical tests, but equally to no avail. Eventually these all got to the stage where it felt they were controlling and ruining my life.
